What lower back pain actually is

Lower back pain is pain anywhere from the bottom of the rib cage to the top of the buttocks. It can be a dull ache, a sharp stab, or stiffness that limits movement.

It can come from the joints of the spine, a disc, the muscles, or a nerve. The examination shows which. A disc or nerve problem often sends pain down a leg, while a joint or muscle problem usually stays in the back.

Lower back pain is often confused with sciatica. Sciatica travels down a leg from nerve pressure. Ordinary lower back pain stays in the back. The examination tells them apart.

How you know it is lower back pain and not something else

The pattern is pain or stiffness in the lower back that may be worse with sitting, bending, or first thing in the morning. It may come on after a specific movement or build up over time.

How we treat lower back pain here

We treat lower back pain based on what the examination finds. A joint or muscle problem usually means chiropractic care and laser therapy. A disc or nerve problem often adds spinal decompression. The services below are the ones we use.

How long it takes depends on what is causing the pain and how long it has been there. Some cases ease in a few visits and others take longer. We track your response at each visit and adjust the plan. We do not promise a fixed timeline or a specific outcome.
